Seek home for rest, for home is best

That above is an affirmation by Thomas Tusser.  The "Seek home for rest, for home is best" comment not the "Sometimes all you need is a billion dollars". I just threw that one in for free!
According to Wikipedia, Thomas Tusser (Born 1524 – 3 May 1580) was an English poet and farmer, and he has many well known quotes that appear against his name.  I think he's my new favourite poet. A lot of his words I've seen in affirmations before. I will not mention them as perhaps I'll need them for future!

So what does it mean though? I feel it means to create a place where your spirit can put its feet up. As I'm into creating something new every day, why not create a place for my spirit?  I need to shed my troubles at the door and slip into my sanctuary. Where would that be?  Right in the middle of a big pile of scraps (stock, materials, planning accessories, card, etc)  that I can create something with!  I love to sort.  Then I love to use what I've sorted.  This is what gives me relaxation and restores me ready for the next day.  What restores you?  Where is your safe place?  Is it Home Sweet Home?   I think I look on "Home, Sweet Home" in a whole different viewpoint now.

These cute little clips are what I've been working on lately.   Some rhinestones, some sequins and some 5cm coloured paper clips and a bit of glue.  I have a lot of colours and I'm just trying to work out how to list them on Etsy. Then you can find them there in all of your favourite colours!

A Well Spent Day Brings Happy Sleep

Ohh man! Leonardo da Vinci what were you thinking?  Now I have to try to live up to that one!  I think I have spent my days well but I don't seem to have that "happy sleep" stuff.  Does it help that my main man has the happy sleep? I've never slept properly so I guess sometimes Leonardo may be wrong?

I live for the weekend as that's the time I get to be able to do what I like doing - all day for two whole days. I don't like to let any of the time be wasted doing un-necessary activities like housework. I know, I know.. I should be living one day at a time.  But, knowing I should be doing it and actually doing it are two different things.

Let's see what I spent my days on the weekend.
I  like the idea of flags and I also love shiny, glossy paper so I made some flags and listed them in my Etsy shop.  Yes, it may be a simple exercise to make these flags but not a lot of people like fiddling around playing with the sizing and the little pieces of paper. I found it relaxing. It amused me to use the animal  prints and the polka dots. So, that's what I did - something that amused me! I also thought they'd be cute in the next display with all the rest of the items I have for display.  The food picks / tooth picks are whitewood. Apparently. You saw in the previous day's post that I used washi tape to make little flags as well. I think I'll have a whole range eventually. Do you want some "cupcake pennants"? Buy a set or two in my Etsy Shop: https://etsy.com/meredithrosecreativescraps

Then I played with some rhinestone flowers, butterflies, stars and sequins and added them to a few items.. I've taken a photo of the binder clips that I made with butterflies but I made a heap of other items as well. The clips are 2cm wide - so cute! They can be found as sets in my Etsy shop. I tried them - they do work..

I was persuaded out for a coffee by my friends at one of the local coffee shops. My main man was working at the time so it was a lone adventure. It meant I had to drive myself, park my own car myself and walk alone to the coffee shop and find the friends inside. After that episode, I've realised that maybe, perhaps, I'm a little spoilt as I'm used to having a "companion" to do all the tasks for me.

That's all that I can think of for today.. stay tuned for more

Talk about light, joy and sweetness

So let's talk about some of that Light, Joy and Sweetness stuff (by the way, the phrase was attributed by Rumi apparently).  Yesterday, I mentioned that I strategically placed a #RandomLoveLetter (follow the tag on Instagram for more information) on my work colleague's desk and I also alluded that she had then placed said note on her flowers on her desk.  I noticed on Facebook, that she had it up on her status.  It is amazing when just a little positive action can cause further ripples. I snapped the pic from the profile so that I can show you.  See, three spectacle cases!  See - I still can't get over that.  Oh, you too would like to leave these lovely sticky notes around the world get to it and then snap pics and load them onto Instagram. I'm sure Sarah and Olivia would be thrilled that there were more going towards their target of one million #RandomLoveLetters.  Check http://www.sarahshotts.com/ for more details.  While you there, also check her new e-book that she has going - "Venture Planner". I've downloaded one and I'm having fun having adventures and recording in my "book".   I will tell you more later about that.

Last night, as my new "creation" in my mission of "Create Something New Every Day" I made some tags.  Not just any tags, these were ones made mostly from recycled papers and there's also some cut from Pink Paislee sheet. The twine is from The Twinery and the ribbon from my stash.  I had planned on making 10 of each colour and then changed that to a couple of each colour / type into a little set. They are in my Etsy shop if you want to have a look-see.  The colours grabbed me and I thought that I'd have a couple of the floral/swirl and couple of the plain ones.  Perhaps, I'll do decorative ones in another set.

For some more sweetness to add to my "Light, Joy and Sweetness", I'll include these. Found on Facebook last night, so they've been passed around a bit.  (Around the world a couple of times as it does with Facebook posts) But, I thought they'd be useful if you wanted something quick to bake and the cake mixes could be in your pantry and a can of drink could be easily be picked up an added.  The instructions are to make as directed on the cake mix except you don't need to add oil / butter, sugar, milk or eggs.
I've found you can use a couple of soft drinks that we have available that could replace those listed on the chart that we can't obtain easily in Australia.

A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery while on a detour

Well, that's it! I'm working on being a truly happy person.  I stepped outside the door and looked out on the garden and there were a set of toadstools. They were only little ones and the four of them were all by themselves in the expense of driveway / lawn outside.  There was a very thick dew as the night before and early morning was a heavy fog.  I saw them and immediately thought of all the little faeries that could huddle underneath them if they had to as there was nothing else around that they could get shelter.  And "faeries" and not "fairies" as I read a lot of fantasy novels and everyone knows that there are all types of faery creatures and not just a little girlie winged ones like tinkerbell.  It was a detour as I called for my boyfriend from inside persuaded him to kneel on the dewy grass to take the photograph. I was in my uniform and didn't want to get grubby!  But, with the sunlight dappling on the bushes behind, the cute little faery hiders (otherwise known as toadstools) and the dewy grass I had a feeling it would be worth his wet knees.  I'm not sure he thought so though.  So, here we all are - enjoying the scenery on my detour from my walk to my car in the morning.

I had a little detour, again, when I did get to work.  I'd prepared a paper clip and a #RandomLoveLetter (an Instagram innovation by http://www.sarahshotts.com/ ) earlier and sneakily snuck into my work mate's desk and stuck them in front of her 3 sets of spectacles!  Karen hasn't long started at my paid job's work and is the only other females amongst about 70 male employees.  I'm trying to keep her smiling. She was totally in awe of my wonderful work, lol.  She has the both pinned to her wooden bunch of flowers so that she can look at them during the day when things get rough.  I still smile at the 3 sets of specs!

So, what did I do when I got home last night? I'm starting to list my cards on my Etsy Shop. I've separated all the cards that I've made into types. I've started with the types that I've sorted into "Thinking of You". A friendly, drop a line to a pen pal, best friend that's not here anymore, ... thinking of you type card.

Cheerfulness is the very flower of health

"Cheerfulness is the very flower of health." This was the proverb to start me off on a track of making flowers and paper clips.  This was on an affirmation card that was turned to the day and the box was supplied originally from the Affirmation House, surprisingly.  This little box was a gift to me by a supplier as she felt that I needed to have something to brighten my day. That it did!  I must tell her one day that what else it sparkled into being.

All the entries I made for the day on my shop on Etsy. Here's the link for the shop just in case you want to make my day!(https://etsy.com/meredithrosecreative)

These entries all had flowers in their images and I included this affirmation in the notes.  Most of them were created when I couldn't sleep for the last week.  Trying to find that silver lining in the cloud I guess - making something productive even though I can't do that rejuvenation thing. Just for something a little different.  I'm still learning how to use all the technology of today - does that make me sound old? yep that's because I haven't kept up with the times.  I should have. I know I should have.   The knowledge of knowing I should have didn't help me to actually achieve this though. I needed motivation. I needed to get away from just thinking of all the bad things that have happened to me. I needed to focus on the good things that I could do.

This flower paper clip marathon flowed on from the previous brainwave that was the first photo on the video (#songtitlesequins) which you can find on Instagram ( link below) and just use the hashtag listed above to see the song title batches that have been created so far. I will attempt a separate blog on that process and what I've achieved so far in that creative wave.
